About Us

The NEW Silver Star Valley Saddle Club is a private, non-profit club for people just like you who love horses. Our goal is to support and promote equestrian activities in the tri-state region, whether it be sponsoring shows, training our horses, holding vaccination clinics, or simply organizing trail rides for the pure enjoyment.

Yesterday

SSVSC was founded over 50 years ago as the Mountain Valley Riders Saddle Club in 1965 at a six-acre site in Quincy, Pennsylvania. A show ring, clubhouse, and announcer's stand were constructed, and for many years Quincy was a major equestrian center in Franklin County.

In 2018, discussions were held with the Silver Star Saddle Club in Greencastle, Pennsylvania to combine resources and membership in order to produce a stronger club with greater capabilities. A merger was negotiated in which the Quincy property was sold and financial resources were invested in upgrading Silver Star's larger 14-acre Greencastle site. The combined membership of the two clubs was then reborn as the new Silver Star Valley Saddle Club.

Today

Today the new Silver Star Valley Saddle Club has completed a major renovation of the club property on McDowell Road in Greencastle that includes installation of a new 300 x 150 foot show ring, as well as upgrade of announcer's stand, clubhouse and kitchen facilities, bathrooms, and picnic pavilion. The site is just five minutes off the Interstate 81 Greencastle Exit with easily access from all directions and acres of parking. A full show schedule is planned for 2021, as well as other equestrian-related events including training clinics, group trail rides, and vaccination clinics to keep your horse healthy.

New bylaws were passed in 2018, and the club is administered by a Board of Directors comprised of members from both original clubs.
